Our story
How it all started
Becky’s School of Dance began in 1964 when Cathleen Concannon sold her studio to Becky Taylor, a senior at Findlay High School. Becky would go to her school classes all day long, and when the final bell rang for the day, she would walk to her studio on Trenton Ave and teach until 9 or 10 each night. When she graduated high school she lived in a small apartment at the back of the studio.
She has grown her studio from less than 100 students to nearly 600 by stressing technique and showmanship with a measure of love and discipline to each student. We have 10 fabulous employees who help us continue our dream.
Our studio has been “home” to thousands of dancers over the years. Our goal is to instruct children in proper dance technique while increasing rhythm and coordination, self-discipline and body strength all while instilling a love of dance.
We have performed at Disney World, on Carnival Cruise Ships, right before tip-off at a Cleveland Cavaliers game, as well as, taking classes in NYC every few years which includes class with a Radio City Rockette at Radio City. We have also had performers dance at the Agency on Aging, the Rotary meeting & the Habitat for Humanity Inspiration Celebration, The Susan G. Komen Race For A Cure and Relay For Life events.

Chance to Dance
Scholarship Program
“The Chance to Dance” Foundation helps upper level ballet students with their needs. This is for dancers who need help paying dance tuition, buying leotards and shoes and any other dance related expense they may run across. This is supported by an annual Chance to Dance performance which is put on by professional dancers and our highest level ballet students. Our instructor, Judy Reading, dedicates a lot of time organizing this show so that all proceeds can help her students.
We also store used/donated items that we can go to in case a dancer needs it. We luckily have a dancewear shop attached to our studio where we can send new items to area’s hit with flooding, hurricanes and tornados. Because even through the devastation…in a child’s mind…the show must go on.
